It’s only a mile from Compton Bay Car Park at Hanover Point along the Beach to the Chine With a climb up the steps that was good training for the 3 Peaks Challenge later in the year and then a walk back along the cliff top. But at high tide I had to dodge the waves a bit and use my nimblest feet. As the sun was coming up and with not another person in sight it was a great start to the day.

In the summer Compton on a sunny day will be one of the most popular beaches, but still relatively deserted if you take the trouble to walk along a bit.

It is without doubt the best beach on the Island – it’s just sea, sand and cliffs – and get the time of day right – it’s just you ….and maybe a few surfers.

We recommend you visit Compton during your stay at Skinners.
