There are numerous different events held every year on the Isle of Wight. Whether you’re sailing, cycling or running or interested in any of the many music, arts or literary festivals, Skinners Farm is a great base for you being close to Cowes and within easy reach of all parts of the Isle of Wight.

We work closely with some events and offer you some fantastic packages and deals.


April and May

The Isle of Wight Walking Festival runs between April 28th and May 13th. Two weeks of organised walks and and many Needles walking resizedother ‘walking’ themed events, culminating in Walk The Wight – a fund raising event for The Isle of Wight Hospice which sees thousands walking across The Island from Bembridge to the Needles.


The Isle of Wight Festival of Running incorporates the popular Needles XC Half Marathon plus the new Needles XC Marathon, Childrens Fun Run and a 5 and 10km fun run. Taking place over the weekend of June 1st 3rd 2018, there’ll also be on site camping and entertainment.  It’s one of the most spectacular half marathons, taking in views of the beautiful West Wight including the Needles, Tennyson Down and Headon Warren. But there;s something for everyone – returning for the 2nd year will be the  SpyVelo Long Weekend – a half Ironman distance event over three days with swim being in the sea at Colwell and culminating in the Needles XC Half. Skinners Farm are proud to be one of the sponsors of the Isle of Wight Festival of Running.

Newport Jazz Weekend

Gramophone Party – Newport Jazz Weekend

Newport Jazz Weekend brings a host of musicians from across the UK to venues around Newport for 4 days from 30th May – 3rd June 2018.

The Isle of Wight Festival takes place every year and attracts thousands of music fans to the Island. The dates for 2018 are 21st – 24th June. Among many others, such world famous acts as The Rolling Stones, Snow Patrol, REM, Bruce Springsteen and The Police have all performed. If you want somewhere quiet to retreat to after the excitement of the event, Skinners is just the place, being a 10 minute taxi ride away from the Festival site.


The Round The Island Race. One of the most famous yachting races in the world,The Round The Island Race is always spectacular, with 1600 boats racing from Cowes, west to the Needles and on round the Island and back to Cowes. in 2018 it takes place on July 7th.

The Royal Isle of Wight County Show takes place on July 8th 2018 and is a fantastic day out for all the family with the animals taking centre stage. The County Show Ground is just 2 miles from Skinners Farm.

UK Pride comes to the Island on 21st July.         Isle of Wight Pride




The Solent Swim is on August 4th. Entries opened on January 1st and West Wight Sports & Community Centre run this amazing event which gives you the opportunity of doing something unique – that is – to swim across the Solent.

The world famous Cowes Week in the first week of August not only attracts thousands of yachts and makes spectacular and exciting viewing, but the town comes alive with a huge programme of entertainment. It is THE place to be in the first week of August and the legendary Cowes Week fireworks on the Friday night see the town jam packed with people and a huge party atmosphere. 2018 dates are 4th – 11th August

Isle of Wight Garlic Festival.The show is food and entertainment at its very best. A vast array of eats, treats, sights and sounds to suit all tastes and ages. There are huge garlic and food marquees, cooking demonstrations from top Island chefs in the all new theatre kitchen, children’s entertainers, archery and a giant fun-fair. Join the fun on 18th and 19th August 2018.

Jack Up The 80s is the ultimate family-friendly Summer festival. Relive the good times of Frankie Says and Choose Life t-shirts, florescent headbands, leg warmers, legendary blockbuster movies and of course great music with acts like Paul Young, Five Star, Leo Sayer, Bad Manners, Nathan Moore and Bruce Foxton From The Jam, plus many, many more. 2018 dates are 10th to 12th August.

The Ventnor Fringe is a unique celebration of the arts, showcasing emerging and established talent across every creative discipline. Each year it attracts more than 300 performers from across the world that together transform Ventnor into a wonderland of pop up bars and secret venues. Dates to be announced for 2018.


West Wight Triathlon on September 18th 2018 consists of a 600 metre pool swim, 35 km cycle around the West Wight and a 7.5 km run along the River Yar.
